TRESSEL Developer's Guide: Tables

Instructions Table

• The first column is the six-digit binary op-code representation; for which the value is listed in our instructions file (instructions.txt).
• The second column, is the hexadecimal representation of this opcode.
• The third column is the actual mnemonic name for the operation call (Ex: ADD-LC, READ-NUM, HALT).
• The fourth column, is our operands-type, which we use for reference in the CheckOperands function, to determine if the TRESSEL programmer's input is valid.
• The fifth column is simply the description of the instruction, which isn't necessarily a required component, but we kept within our table for additional reference.
• And the final column is the action, explained in mathematical terms to better understand what the instruction actually processes.

Directives Table

• The first column is the label format. 'rl' stands for a required label. 'ol' stands for an optional label. And 'none' implies that no label is allowed for this directive.
• The second column, is the mnemonic name for the directive.
• The third column, is our operands-type, which we use for reference in the CheckOperands function, to determine if the TRESSEL programmer's input is valid.
• The fourth column is simply the description of the directive, which isn't necessarily a required component, but we kept within our table for additional reference.
• The fifth column is either a 'YES' or 'NO.' This corresponds to whether memory is consumed by this directive call, and if the globalLocationCounter is to be incremented.
• The sixth column is the internal function number, a number we allocated for each type of directive. We use this number to determine the proper case select within the DoDirective function.

Symbol Table

• The first column is the symbol/label that the TRESSEL programmer created. The first character must be a letter. And the remaining characters must only be an alpha-numeric, dash(-), underscore(_), or period(.). Minimum label length of two and maximum label length of sixty-four.
• The second column, is the address at which the label was declared by the programmer.
• The third column is the substitution, which we use for equates (EQU). This is the value substituted in when an EQU is found in the operands token.
• The fourth column, is the listed purpose for the Symbol. This is typically something like 'Label' or 'pgm_name.'

Error Table

• The first column is the Error Number that we determined when coding.  Whenever a new error was discovered for the TRESSEL machine, we added it to this table.
  
• The second column, is the description, or the Error Message.  This is what is printed out in the Assembly Listing for the TRESSEL programmer to see. He may then troubleshoot his code based off this description

Linker Symbol Table

• LABEL is the symbol/label that the TRESSEL programmer created. The first character must be a letter. And the remaining characters must only be an alpha-numeric, dash(-), underscore(_), or period(.). Minimum label length of two and maximum label length of sixty-four.
• TYPE is either Pgm_Name for a module symbol or Entry_Sym for an entry symbol.
• ASM-ADDR is the address assigned by the assembler, read directly from the record.
• LEN is the length of the module in words. It is "n/a" for entry symbols.
• LINKADDR is the address assigned by the linker.
• ADJUST is the number of words to adjust all addresses in a module by. It is defined per module. It is "n/a" for entry symbols.
